Another Day Closer.

A few more things on the  to do list have been crossed out, but there still seems to be many more to get done.
The removal has been settled and is a very acceptable price. Sky and BT are sorted and I have to do the Utilities next.

As a form of light relief I bought this magazine on Monday.

It is only the second copy that I have had, I am not big on magazines, they take so much space and often I only make one project from an issue. It was the bicycle that hooked me, I intend to have a cycle in Wales. Given the amount of wet days I do not think I will dress it up like this, unless of course I can find water proof yarn.

I just had to make a cabbage rose, it reminds me of my own roses.
Then I had to tweak it, after all that is all the fun of crafting, you can do what you like.

I quite like this version, I have a yellow climbing rose halfway down the garden that starts off deep yellow, almost gold and then as it opens gently fades to cream.

I was about to start on a second yellow rose, using orange in the middle and fading out to a true yellow. As I rummaged through my yarn I unearthed the deep Fuchsia and off at a tangent I went.

I am pleased with the outcome and this one went together easier than the first two. The instructions said to coil the rose and pin into place before sewing across the base to secure.
I tried, and I tried, and I tried. Then I threw rose, hook, yarn and magazine across the room and had a cuppa. Took Ben for a walk and had another cuppa.

I started again coiling and sewing as I went, better but a bit tight. The Yellow one was a little better and the tri colour Pink was so much easier. I am hoping that future ones will be easier still. I made 2 leaves but did not like them so will stick to the pattern that I already have.

Now that I have played with these I must make some more birds, the problem is the Silly Sausage pattern on page 45, Frank the Amigurumi Dog. I love him, I want him and once I find a stitch marker I will have him. This will be a new experience, working in a spiral so a stitch marker is a must.

Reasons to be grateful.

1. We have a very gentle rain falling so no need to water anything.

2. I found my Quilting Pins when packing.

3. My laundry and ironing are all up to date.

4. I have lost another 3 lbs, after a greedy weekend away.

5. All my curtains will fit the windows in Wales.

I was so glad of that last one, my winter curtains will go straight up once we get to them. I have the fabric in my stash to make summer ones but that will probably be a month away. I will be putting lining and interlining in them as they will not only hang better, but will keep noise at bay. The village is quite large and is mainly Ribbon Development, so I expect there to be quite a bit of through traffic.
It is time for tea and time to get dinner started, I have chicken marinading that could do with turning and a small piece of Belly Pork that I have yet to make up my mind how to cook.

  1. Having curtains that fit will save you a fortune as they're just so expensive for a good quality pair. I hope everything goes well x

    1. My winter weight curtains are lovely and thick with lining and interlining, they came from Next, were in the original packaging, I bought them from the CS for less than £5 a pair.

  2. Hi, just a thought on stitch markers; I just use a little piece of contrasting yarn and move it as I go, Or if I have to leave it in place, I just tie it and cut the marker out at the end. Hope that helps.

    1. I did try doing that a while ago, as I was crocheting along I pulled the marker out, I have some softish plastic rings for plant supports and am going to try them. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

    1. I have to 'fess up that I do not own a pair of earings. I had my ears pierced many years ago then found that I could not change the earings myself so let them close up.
