Spend a penny, I'll have a £1,s worth.

Ooh what A wet week it has been, all thoughts of blogging went out the window, or rather down the drain. I have had a U. T. I. That's  trouble with the waterworks in plain speak I have drunk gallons of lemon barley water and popped a course of antibiotics.
I have lost enough weight to make my clothes loose and give me cheekbones. I am not sure if it was galloping up the stairs every 10 minutes or that I was so sloshing full of liquid that there was no room for food.

I am so much better tonight that I cooked a really delicious dinner, a lamb shank from Lidl in a red wine sauce. Half price at £1.79, not cheap but enough meat for 2 meals for me and cooked in the ding oven.
.

I have taken a few pics of some of my sewing, some was for gifts and I dare not show them.

A stack of cushions ready to pile on the sofas.

I used a few of the fancy stitches for some of the quilting on these 2. They are made with the left over bricks, that quilt is waiting for the inner and main border.

A small forest of trees, these five have been  decorated now and some more will be winging their way to other homes. So easy and fast to make and the stuffing came from some cheap pillows from Poundstretcher, £4.99 for a pair with pillow protectors. I managed to stuff all these from 1 pair with some left and have worked my way through another pillow.

While I was at it with the trees I thought that I would join in with the rest of the village and get The Tree up, Francesca's poor little primary school Angel is looking the worse for wear, I fear that this will be her last outing. It looks as though Eyore agrees with me.

This is a work in progress, I ran out of steam. I think I will have another play tomorrow.

The weather has been brilliant, clear blue shies, dry but quite cold. I have managed to get all my washing line dried. The worse job was getting it on and off the line, it's a long way from whirligig to bathroom.

Ben had to make do with the garden, he was fine on the whole. He did enjoy the day that I stayed in bed, it was close to the bathroom and I could not face running up and down the stairs.

Now I really need to take him out again, we have both had a good dinner and a walk is in order.

    1. I really could not face the outside world, the trouble with anything slightly Kidney related is the depression, they go hand in hand. I am alive and kicking now though.

    1. I am indeed shiny bright now, mind you my calf muscles feel as though I have been mountaineering. The trees are cute and so quick to put together.

  6. UTI's are Not Nice. Glad to hear that you are on the mend again now. Lots of my friends rave about the Lidl Lamb Shanks so I may get one as a treat for OH. What beautiful sewing, esp. the little trees. I started off a couple of weeks ago with good intentions to finish a quilt, but Life got in the way again. Perhaps in January . . .

  7. Hi Pam, glad your feeling a bit better now, your meal looked lovely, I have never had lamb shanks, partly because the expensive it would be for 3 of us.
Your sewing is really nice, I like the slim look christmas tree, I have never really seen one of those, I suppose that would have been a good option for us, as we only had room for a small one on the table.

    1. I have had my pencil tree for a while now, up till then I used to just push the other one into a corner and then unfold the branches that faced into the room. The lamb shanks come round at half price every now and again, 3 would give you a "roast" dinner and enough meat for a shepherds pie ot pastie. Still not really cheap but as a treat meal could be balanced out with cheaper options on other days.

    1. I have made Barley water many times but this hit me fast and hard so a bottle or 3 was purchased, My Word it is expensive. I could fill a swimming pool with the homemade stuff for what I spent.

  9. Well, it seems I also suffered some illness along with you. Mine was chronic ear infection. Dreadful pains from Thurs. last week. I then ended up having to see the doctor the second time around on the following Monday and had to go to hospital for further treatment on the Tuesday. The ear had to be hovered out and some antibiotic drops were given. I`m still not over the hill yet and have another hospital appointment next Friday to check that the infection is actually going away. Pains have lessened but not gone all together yet. I`m hoping to be fit again for work on Monday as I already have lost out on one week`s pay and can`t afford to loose any more.
Glad you are on the mend, though.

  13. Hope you're soon fighting fit gain Pam. You have my sympathy - I suffer with recurrent cystitis( it's left me with scarred kidneys and an overactive bladder). so I know just how miserable it is.
Beautiful crafty makes! I have made 2 quilt tops with the bricks I cut out. Just need to get them layered up and quilted now.

  15. Oh Pam I really feel for you with the UTI, I've had problems since I was 7yrs old. Every so often they put me on a six week course of strong antibiotics and that seems to work for a few mths thank goodness. I also use barley water when it's really bad my grandmother started me on homemade and I still make it. I can't have cysterpurin or that type of meds because it affects my BP meds! My daughters dr suggested she drink cranberry juice daily but I find it soooo sour. I hope it clears up for you soon, keep those hottie bottles at the ready.
What can I say about your cushions.........they are simply gorgeous! I love the fabrics you've used they will certainly brighten up any room. I also love the trees you've made they are so pretty. Thank you for brightening up a grey, cold Friday.
    Feel better soon.

    1. I am fortunate that I do not take anything but my painkillers for the sciatica, and that has gone on holiday. I hope it moves there. I have tried cranberry juice but prefer the lemon barley, like you I normally make my own. I love splashes of colour around me, I have made bunting and swathed it up the stairs, now I am trying to figure out how to get some lights on it.

  16. Sorry to hear about your UTI, Pam, I know from experience how miserable they can make you feel. Fortunately it's been a long time since I had one...and I hope I haven't jinxed myself by saying that. I do love your cushions; they are absolutely gorgeous. With all that's gone on over the past few months with DH's mum and other stuff I really haven't gotten into the Xmas mood. I've only just started buying pressies and thinking about food and I'm now panicking that I won't get done in time. But I am enjoying reading about and looking at everybody else's preparations.

  17. I have made most of my presents again this year. I make and fill several stockings with little things and then there are the traditional gifts. Fran always has new slippers and a smart cardigan that will fit in for work but still has some colour and a touch of pizazz. James gets a pair of pj bottoms with super heroes on and honeycomb covered with chocolate, and that is about all that I buy. If it were not for Fran coming home for Christmas I would not put the decs up, she loves it all.
