It Is Here.

The rain and mist swept in from nowhere this morning, but I care not. Why?

Because Little Grace is here.

The main frame and poles.

The carriage for the sewing machine.

This is the kit to extend the frame for larger quilts.

The stitch regulater and various stops and bits.

I have cut out some 6 1/2" blocks from the mile a minute patchwork, I have picked this soft green for the sashing. I need to cut a few more blocks out to decide whether or not I like it. To add interest I have cut these out on the diagonal. Unless I am willing to have a lot of waste I have to put up with tiny bits of fabric here and there on the edges. When this is done I will go back to foundation piecing, there will still be some waste but no tiny bits.

Ben has just told me that he needs to go for a walk Right Now, so toodle pip.

  4. ooooooooh.....a quilting frame, I would love one, but just do not have room, shame. My friend has one in her garage, her machine is away getting a new motor, but once its back I will be having a go with it.

    1. I am hoping that my big machine will fit but if not I will be after a straight stitch work horse to put on the frame.

  6. I like the little bits. It appeals to my sense of waste not want not AND it makes you look Oh So Skillful in being able to piece them ;-)

    1. They do look good but when it falls on a corner and you have to seam through 6 layers there will be bumps on the top. With foundation piecing this does not happen, all the little bits are inside the block.

  7. This is the frame I started with! You are going to love it - When I upgraded two years ago to an all metal frame made by Grace - we held a drawing in the shop and I gave away my Little Grace. The lady who 'won' it has become a great quilter and loves it too. Have a wonderful time - but don't forget to eat!

  8. Oooo, so excited for you Pam, may I borrow Mr Muscles after you, Mr B will be out of action for at least 3 mths.
I really like the way you've made the blocks so bright and vibrant, the colours would look great as a baby quilt they would stimulate. I'll keep checking back its almost as bad as waiting for our great grandson being born. I wonder if this excitement is good for us lol.

  11. That looks so complicated to assemble it's a good job you have a Mr Muscles to do it. I am hopeless at reading assembly instructions :/ Have a great time using Grace.

  12. I know that on a site I visited last year the quilter used an old Singer sewing machine on hers taken out of a cabinet. You finish your projects pretty quickly now I can see you posting several quilts all in one post once you get the hang of it lol. I'm really pleased for you, I've found a home for the 3 cupboards, possibly 4 that I need to remove to see if I can fit my frame in. They're not old and in excellent condition so my Grandson and partner want them for our new Great Grandsons clothes.
