Rain started play

It has been a beautiful wet day in the Amman Valley, windy and warm. I have been outside precisely three times, Ben has been walked twice and I collected Maggie to do some shopping.
Lots of tea has been made and drunk and there has been quite a lot of measure, cut,sew and press going on.

The second pair of cotton slobbers are done.

I left the pockets out of these, they are not necessary, if by chance I change my mind (a woman change her mind!!) I will just add patch pockets.

I have been muttering about blunt pins recently, I ran a nice big pincushion up and filled it with crushed walnut shells. I cut 4 x 5" charm squares and made a disappearing 4 patch block. I hope that this will resolve the problem, I really do not want to buy more pins.

I used some random fat quarters to run up 2 storage bags, I am not sure what they will be used for, I just wanted to sew.

They are lined with some Laura Ashley fabric, I bought this in Kings Lynn when the shop closed, it was a bargain.

I quite fancy a row of these in my sewing room, but have no idea what I will put in them. I am sure that something will spring to mind, eventually.

I am out this evening, gossip and a bit of telly, dinner will be served to me and no washing up. Sounds lovely and I am looking forward to it.

I was going to make another pair of slobbers and I have the pattern, fabric and zip ready to make a dress, perhaps it will rain again tomorrow.

    1. I have made them in all sizes, some I make taller without handles and then turn a cuff down to show the lining.

  5. Put fancy buttons in them! Others are storing FQ in them! Love your pincushion! I do find the walnut shells work great but are hard to find in the states so I have stocked up! I am following now thanks for stopping by In The Boon Docks!

    1. I found mine in a pet shop, in the reptile department. I have been reading you for some time now. My buttons are in glass jars, but i am thinking of scrap storage.

  6. Interesting! Is the theory that the walnut shell sharpens the pins?

    1. It is, I am hoping that it works. A benefit is that it makes the pincushion quite heavy so it does not slide around if I nudge it.

  7. You HAVE been busy. I think it's rain again tomorrow, so I know what you'll be doing! I love that pincushion and those little bags are so pretty. The cotton "slobbers" are great - what a beautiful pattern that is.

I have been doing my accounts today - nothing like as exciting as your creative day.

    1. Been there, done that, glad not to do it again. The fabric came from Fabric guild and was around £3 a metre, bargain.

  14. I've got my hand up also for a tutorial please when you have time, they'd be perfect for putting my wool in when doing a project. I have wicker baskets at home but I don't want to clutter the caravan up with wicker baskets and these would be just what the Dr ordered. Love the fabric you have used. X
