Summer once more.

Well, the weather pundits came up trumps again, today dawned bright and sunny, so warm that I walked Ben without needing a jacket.
I have spent most of the day in the garden, skirt and tee shirt time, feeling the heat of the sun on bare legs and arms was wonderful.
I now have a load of ground cover and bee friendly perennials along the front wall and 3 Rhapsody in Blue roses in place. I have 6 more roses coming and that bed will be full.
I have left the Fuchsias in place but the Pelargoniums are now potted up and in the greenhouse.

Elsewhere I have got the garlic in and the middle raised bed has been topped off with spent compost and farmyard manure. Then I layered newspaper over to keep the weeds suppressed, all held in place with some scrap wood.

Plans have been drawn up for an Arbour on one end of the patio. This will give me some seating,  a growing area for a couple of evergreen climbers and serve as a privacy screen and windbreak.
Boom. Mr Muscle has looked it all over and the wood will be purchased this week, along with enough to build another raised bed. The estimated materials cost is £60 including all the screws. Not Bad.

Francesca will be here at the end of the month for a long weekend, I have to plan a birthday cake for her.
I have just been watching Nigel cooking Simple Suppers and now am very peckish. Roast Chicken tonight, at around 7.00 as I had a late lunchtime sandwich.

I have an idea to try making pastry with gram flour, I can just about recall seeing it on a tv program ages ago. I will let you know how it goes.

No pics today, I have run out of time as I need to get in the kitchen.

I have 90 of the 4 patch blocks sewn and pressed and the rest are paired up ready to go. On the granny square front the blue are done and I have made a start on the next colour, Fondant.

Now I am off to sling hash.

  1. Oh Pam, you gave my favourite rose. I need two more but round here my search has been fruitless. I've had a bash this time at taking some cuttings like whatshisface off Gardeners thingy on the BBC .

  2. Rhapsody in Blue is gorgeous. You are going to have a stunning garden next year. I did a bit more tidying up in mine this afternoon until the midges took their revenge at being disturbed!

    1. Glorious and today was more of the same, it is quite dark now, the sun has dropped down behind the Morriston Mountain and the valley is in it,s shadow.

  5. It was a lovely warm day wasn't it, we walked the dogs up by the river and were astonished at how quickly the morning mist burnt off and the sun came out. It is very unusual though to be this warm in November ... and slightly worrying.

  8. I have made pastry with gram flour as I had nothing else in the house! It takes a lot of liquid- it can be quite crumbly but it is delicious and crisp when cooked. I filled my pasties with a mixture of onions, carrot, left over hummus to stop it all being too dry and chickpeas, dash of Garam Masala. Yummy Indian style pasties!
