Mmmmm,mmmmm,mmmm

That, along with the occasional sigh, was the sound of Easter Dinner disappearing into various mouths.
We had roast lamb that was meltingly tender and all the usual extras and Yorkshire Pudding. We have it with just about every roast, I even made one for W to go with his nut roast.

Pudding was crumble, mincemeat and apple for W, apple and blueberry for us. Lashings of custard , cream for the SO, and we were replete.

We watched the new Murder on the Orient Express ( I still prefer David Suchet as Poirot ) and while we enjoyed it I feel that Depp and Branagh were in each others roles. Kenneth Branagh was far too staid for Poirot and would have been eminently sinister as the baddy, and Johnny Depp would have been suitably quirky as Poirot. But that is just me.

I have not touched my sewing since Francesca arrived but the Carbeth is coming along nicely. I have already altered the pattern by knitting 14 rows of rib rather than 6, I felt that the ribbing was far too short for such a robust garment.

I was going to add about 2 inches to the length but, after looking on Ravelry saw that many people had done just that and then said that it was not necessary.

We have all been very abstemious with the chocolate today, I think that subconsciously we were saving ourselves for the dinner.

There is some banal film on the TV and the SO and Fran are deep into  it, perhaps I will get some sewing in after all.

First things first though, it is time to get the kettle on.

    1. I picked a whole leg up in Tesco for £5 per Kilo, it was New Zealand lamb and very good.

  2. We are on with the Agatha Christie on BBC 1 tonight- the fact I’m in Blogland tells you how enthralled I am - which is a shame because I usually like Bill Nighy.
Your dinner sounds lush and wonderful. Happy easter Pam xx

    1. I watched a bit on catch up, it was very stilted and Nighy was dire.

  4. I have just managed to catch up reading your blog, happy Easter Pam. Your food sounds delicious! I have had a very quiet Easter weekend with boring food (boo) as I have been alone and without any incentive to cook. I didn't even have any chocolate to nibble on ( double boo) so have enjoyed reading about yours. We saw the new Murder on the Orient Express at the cinema a while ago and didn't really enjoy it. Brannagh's Poirot was too wooden and I couldn't get past that ridiculous moustache!
I love, love, love the fabrics on your previous post. How do you find such amazing ones? We have so little choice in our local area and I can't find anything cheap enough on the internet. Have a lovely day today x

    1. That fabric all came from the fabric guild, they have an online shop with updates most weeks. I was fortunate to find so many, some times there is nothing that I fancy.

  5. I ate no chovolate at Easter but spent enough at the Fabric Guild to qualify for free delivery-ooops. Thanks for alerting me to this seller Pam-it will all be used to stitch things for charity. Just made a full 10litre pan of thick veg soup as it’s blimmin cold and damp-or dreich as I would usually say- here in Scotland. Enjoy the rest of your time with Francesca.

    1. I bought some odd bits to get up to the free delivery, it makes sense. I will have the soup pot on tomorrow, the lamb bone will be helping to flavour Scotch Broth.

  6. We had lamb yesterday too and it was beautiful. I think probaly the whole world did as I got stuck (trolley bottleneck) next to the mint sauce in T***o and had to keep handing out jars.
No chocolate consumed here apart from two chocolate digestive biscuits.
    Hugs-x-

    1. It is a tradition to have Lamb but I did see several fresh turkey crowns around various shops.

  7. I haven't had lamb in a long time, I remember having at my grandfather's with mint jelly. :) I LOVE Yorkshire Pudding...could eat it daily, again, something I haven't had in ages! I'm glad you had a nice Easter! I like Kenneth Branagh, but not a fan of Johnny Depp anymore. Sometimes the remakes just don't cut it for me either!

    1. Yorkshire Pudding is such an easy thing to whip up, we often have it with casseroles and stews rather than potato.
