It is all here.

We have had a mixed bag of weather today, fog obscured the mountain this morning but it cleared steadily and was bright by mid morning. Ben enjoyed his walks and the second one was in quite bright sun shine. sadly as the afternoon wore on the mist descended and brought some drizzle and light rain to keep it company.

My plans to cast on the back of Francesca,s jumper came to nothing as my eye was caught by some WYS self striping yarn and these happened.

As usual I am knitting them in tandem, I did start off two at a time on a long cable but, after dropping a stitch once or twice and getting my yarn in a rats nest changed over. You can just see the waste yarn for the afterthought heel on the right sock. I have a soft green for the heels and perhaps the toes .

And now for my goodies from America, I was almost pacing the house while waiting for the delivery.

My first ball winder, I have always wound by hand but it played my wrists up a week or so ago after winding 2 skeins, I am looking forward to using it.

To go with it I have a Yarn Swift, it was a feat to take a photo (I ended up standing on the table) and then had to clamber down and load it up to show it off properly.

I saved the best for last, gorgeous, soft and squishy yarn in an explosion of colour. The four skeins are all hand painted and the 50 gram balls are Dogwood Heather Stroll. All are going to be socks and all will be gifts.
All of my goodies came from Knit Picks, and all were free shipping.
I was absolutely amazed at the low prices and overwhelmed by the quality.

Now I am off to make a stir fry, all veg tonight with some edamame beans for the protein element. I love these little beans and was very happy to find them in Tesco a while ago. I keep a couple of bags in the freezer and have them at least twice a week.

Much yarn stroking may happen later.

  1. Fab crafty stuff Pam.
I was so bedazzled by your beautiful apron on your last post that I do believe I forgot to leave a comment...huge apologies for that.
I've seen edamame beans in T***o but they look suspiciously like broad beans to me so am afraid to try them in case they taste like them....I loathe broad beans unfortunately-x-

    1. They are soya beans, I call them edamame because that's what they are called in catering. I don't think that they are anything like broad beans, they have a crisp texture with a nice crunch. I cook them with a pinch of sugar to bring out the sweetness, just like peas.

  2. I am still amazed at how you knit those beautiful socks! The soft yarn is wonderful. The yarn winder and yarn swift ?? look like fun things to use. Darn, I wish I knew more about knitting.

  3. I don't think I have ever had edamame beans I must give them a try. The yarn looks amazing, stunning colours and impressive that the postage was free.

    1. The answer has to be no, in my defence it was the coffee table which is quite low and very sturdy. I have a sweater to finish and then I will be using my new toys.

  5. Oooh, lovely purchases. I love my swift and ball winder, just a joy to wind straight from the swift and then knit from the middle of the cake! Gorgeous wool and the recipients are going to be very happy with their gifts!
I've had my eye on the Passionfruit cooler for ages but I m.u.s.t n.o.t i.n.c.r.e.a.s.e my stash.
I'm using up leftover yarn from the bird range (bullfinch and matching red) haven't got enough of the bullfinch but plenty of the red so there will be red stripes as well!

  6. We had to go to Swansea yesterday morning so missed the sunshine, but have been enjoying the changeable weather here, and the absence of the sea wind!
Feeling a lot more settled here now if you would like to come by for a cuppa some time this week? Jess

  7. Edamame are soy beans. I had a Japanese American boss who ate them like peanuts at her desk. I tried some but have a reaction to most soy. My husband loves them so I pick them out and drop them on his plate.
Your treasures are wonderful. You're going to have a great time with both of them.

    1. I love them and can happily munch away, I do not like TVP though in any shape or form. I hope to play with my toys next week.

    1. I have been happy to hand wind my wool for years, now that I am knitting more and more from skeins I find that winding plays my wrists up. I have broken them both, at two separate times and have to be a bit careful.

  9. So happy to find your blog. I only knit socks and have had a hard time finding blogs of other sock knitters. I've recently discovered 3 of my blog readers knit socks. My blog is not a knitting blog but I've decided to add a bit of knitting to it on a regular basis. I've had a ball winder and swift for years. Makes life much easier. Also like not constantly chasing a run away ball of yarn.
