Firstly it is so sad to say goodbye to the gentleman known as Tel AKA Sir Terry Wogan, he has kept me company through many years and his dulcet tones have seen me through many a crisis and even more euphoric times. I am sure that all of his Old Gals and Geezers will be as sad as I am.
I have been steadily winnowing the chaff from the corn in my home. I know that I have said several times that I have taken a load to the Charity shop, but there is always more to go, at least I manage to keep finding more redundant items.
Then, back to home, I am saying goodbye to these few things.
My Magimix, it has done me proud for many years but I no longer use it very much. I no longer need to chop pounds of vegetables up for chutney, the amounts that I make now are small enough to use a knife. Goodbye.
I never did use the box of extras that came with it, they went to a good home years ago.
This little dutch oven has been gathering dust for longer than I care to think about. I can not remember where it came from, I do know that it was given to me and that I have never used it. Goodbye.
Likewise the bread bin, I like a wooden bin and one where the front rolls up and there is room on the top to stand marmite and peanut butter, close to hand.
These books, and a few more, have been read and enjoyed, my space is at a premium so they too have gone. Goodbye.
My car has also gone, it was reaching an age where it would start costing me money so had to go. Goodbye.
I had been looking around for something comfortable and reasonably powerful but not too thirsty. And of course at a good price.
Hello Baby.
Meet the new wheels, a nice chunky Zafira with a 2.0 diesel engine.
I expect her to last me a good while.
I have now got the cover on the next wreath and started to add the flowers, no photos yet, I will try to do better soon.
Now I am off to drink my tea and play catch up with blog reading.
TTFN Pam
It is so nice to have a good clear out isn't it, no point in keeping things we know we won't use again, I have just had a selling spree on Ebay.x
ReplyDeleteI have never sold on Ebay, I have done a few car boots though. I am in a couple of local selling groups on Facebook and hope to sell my surplus plants this year.
DeleteThat is a good idea, I might look into that x
DeleteI don't know if it just lost my message!
ReplyDeleteIt did, I hate it when that happens. So much faff.
DeleteI think I've just lost my post too . . . It came up with conflicting edits, whatever those are.
DeleteThanks for your blog Pam.I've had a sad few days pet wise.Your aspirations and busyness cheer and inspire,
ReplyDeleteBest regards
Ann
I am sorry for your distress, Pets give us lots of love but inevitably there is sadness.
DeleteYou have had a good clear out Pam, it does the soul good doesn't it x
ReplyDeleteIt is as good as losing weight with out giving up chocolate.
DeleteOooh, nice car, Pam,enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI did hum and hah a lot, the last time I drove a Vauxhall it was a Viva, it rolled on corners and made me sea sick.
DeleteCongrats on your new car. It's always nice to get to know your vehicle. When we moved this last time, we threw things out. I did, however, save my vinyl collection. Bought a record player and I can listen to all my Beatles albums on vinyl. Now that we are down to 3 in the house I have to retrain my brain to cook smaller amounts. I'm doing yellow pea soup tonight as it's a clear cold blustery day.
ReplyDeleteHope your weather has improved. We had gale winds and lots of power problems all over southern CA. It's a balmy 13C here now and still windy.
My vinyl went south years ago, funnily enough it bought me a new car then. I had quite a few rare pressings in mint condition. We had a damp day with sporadic showers, this evening has been dry though. Tomorrow should be much the same with rain for the rest of the week.
DeleteHope you enjoy your new car! I watched the one show tribute to Sir Terry and cried through most of it, he was a great man and I miss him! xx
ReplyDeleteI recorded it on the sky box as I new it would be emotional and I would want to watch it again. The car is good, the visibility is fantastic and the parking sensors are very handy.
DeleteSo sad to hear about Terry Wogan.
ReplyDeleteI really should have a clear out of some of my kitchen gadgets but I love them all. I do use most of them but not as much as I did when I was childminding Ruby and cooking for six people....I used to cook my son and his wife a meal to take home and heat up as they both worked horrible hours.
Cars go right over my head I'm afraid. I'm not a driver-x-
I can not give room to stuff that I no longer use, I do have a mini chopper and use that quite a lot. It is fabulous for processing herbs and breadcrumbs for stuffing and coating. I have been driving from 17, I took the test a month after my birthday, Dad insisted that we all learnt to drive as soon as we could reach the pedals.
DeleteYou have done a bit of a declutter. Always feels good to get a new car, good luck with it.
ReplyDeleteI hope that this will be as reliable as my other cars have been. It was preregistered last year which keeps the price down a little.
DeleteI always wonder what a dutch oven was. It looks like a large saucepan.or is ther more to it?
ReplyDeleteNice looking car
Carolx
It is just a lidded pot with 2 side handles so it goes into the oven, I have a larger one that I use weekly and have no need for two.
DeleteI try to declutter but it's an uphill struggle. I got rid of our George Foreman grill once, only for hubby to go out and get another. And although son has moved out, his room is still FULL of his stuff; he won't take it until he has time to sort through it.
ReplyDeleteMy friend Mary is having a major turn out, she has to wait until her hubby is away as he is a total squirrel and will part with nothing. Today it was books, last week it was suitcases and backpacks from the loft, most had not seen the light of day for 20 years.
DeleteIt doesn't need loads of implements to be a good cook, does it? I don't have a processor or anything like that (they eat up too much cupboard space for a start.) I like wooden spoons, sharp knives, scissors, a Microplane grater and a little Braun hand-held blender and I'm able to do most things. I have a balloon whisk which is handy and a rotary whisk, 1950s style (no electric whisk), and a liquidizer/blender and that's it. No ice cream makers, or yoghurt makers or soup makers, no fancy gadgetry at all. But I still manage to make decent grub! Well done on getting shot of your stuff.
ReplyDeleteMargaret P
I have shed most of my electric appliances, I have a stand mixer for when I am unable to knead the bread dough, a hand held mixer, stick blender and a spice mill. All these are used on a regular basis, I toyed with the idea of a sausage machine but decided that my hand mincer would do. I have balloon whisks in various sizes and enough wooden spoons and sharp knives for my needs.
