The Clearing Out Continues

Just a quick visit to say that The Sun is Shining in my valley, sweet.
I have 5 bags of good clothes for the NSPCC collection today, including 4 brand new jackets and 3 sheepskin coats that look as good as new.
There are 9 sets of double bed linen, each with fitted sheet, duvet cover and 4 pillowcases all ready to go, I am not making a special journey to Swansea as I have to go in next week.

There are also 8 bags of poorer quality clothes, shoes and linen for the council recycling collection, as much as possible is used in NPT.

The only pile that I do not know what to do with is a collection of classical music albums, there is a shop in the next village that sells records, books, cd,s etc but he does not stock classical. Any Ideas, I will hate  sending them to be broken up.

Now I am off to collect Maggie for our weekly shop, she will know by tomorrow whether she will be staying in the village or moving to Ammanford. Which ever I will be there to help and we will still shop on Thursday, just not in Pontardawe.

  1. I had always wanted a sheepskin coat, if you have one in my size I would happily make a charity donation for one,
perhaps offer the records on pre loved there might be some groups interested in them or is there any OAP homes or nursing homes that could use them, the home my mum was in use to play records to the residents

  3. Re the records , how about the Eco charity shop in cardigan, they re cycle nearly everything..might be worth a try and oxfam used to take them to in their bookshop, dvd etc shops ?

  4. Maybe the music shop can suggest who might take the classical records..I, too, hate to see them destroyed. I hear records are making a comeback and new ones are even being made!
I am impressed at the amount of items you are finding to clear out even though you had a good clear out when you moved! I am re-evaluating, too, and find more every day I can do without...but not quilting cottons or hooking wools...I did get rid of a big bag of polyester thread as I only use the cotton for my quilts...
Fun to see your new projects!

  5. Have you been on freecycle for the LP's, you list on your local site and if anyone wants them they contact you and collect them from you.

  6. Thank you all for your suggestions but the records have been stored in far from perfect conditions and are very poor.

  7. Is this stuff all yours Pam or is it a friend that is having the grand clear out? I just can't imagine you having all those perfumes/Toiletries and so many extra clothes, especially as you moved not so long ago. Tell me to MYOB if you like, just a little confused. Have a good day with Maggie.

    1. It all comes from my friend, she has been buying stuff for a long time, just pushing it into any available space. Finally she realised that instead of it helping it was making her feel worse. I only stash crafting things and am determined to reduce that drastically.

  8. Why not repurpose the records into something else or advertise them on freecycle as suitable for repurposing/arts and crafts.
I've seen some made into bowls.

  9. oxfam often make bowls out of the records to sell also art therapy classes may use them as craft materials

  11. It does make you feel good to get rid of stuff that you no longer need, I'm sorting through things bit by bit and trying to recycle as much as possible. There's so many good causes which will benefit from anything we no longer use.

  12. I asked around and one of the CS did take the records, Im just hope that they find a few gems in there.
I will know next week whether there will be any more stuff to move, keeping my fingers crossed that there is none. I did rescue some lovely PJ,s with matching robes, I have washed and pressed these and will wrap them up before taking to the library for their fundraising sale. They are for the larger lady and these sizes always sell fast, or so my contacts tell me.
