No change.
Repeat later in the day, still no change.
My embroidery machine arrived, thank you Peg, but I could not summon up the interest to open it.
Tuesday the pressure eased a bit, kept on with the drops and had a check up, wonderful, an infection, take pills and feel nauseous.,
To take my mind off it I decided to try my hand at making a circular skirt, with side seam pockets. It is a bit loose but a wearable toile, I need a full petticoat though.
As you can see it is a hipster on my model, I managed a decent zipper insertion and a hook and eye fastening. The waist is simply finished with a facing for a smooth appearance. If anybody is curious about the fabric, it started life as a duvet cover from Asda, I bought it ages ago and picked up the wrong size so never used it.
There is so much fabric that I have an edge to edge jacket nearly finished and aim to make a simple sleeveless top.
And now to the utter failure.
Yesterday I made up the third Snapshot Quilt block, I cut it all out last month and promptly forgot it.
At the last bit of assembly I realised that not only was a piece missing and I had run out of the white on white, but the kettle handle was crooked and there were some points that did not match at all. Even worse, I did not like the colours or the star on the front. Woe is me.
I will pick some more fabric and remake this, the first will not be wasted, I will turn it into a cushion for Francesca, she is a tea aholic.
Today the surgery have decided that next Tuesday I must have my ears syringed, yeuk! I had it done once before and did not like it at all.
Today the pain has subsided but the tinnitus remains and I am almost deaf. I aim to get some sewing done later, Ben has to have a walk first. I would like to finish the little jacket, I am going to attempt to "bag line" it, I have watched a u tube tutorial and read a description so wish me luck. If it all works I will be making the "real thing" next week, using some of my bargain buys from the fabric guild. I dare not even look at their website at the moment.
Now it is time to walk, Ben is giving me the evil eye stare.
TTFN Pam
Oooh, thinking of you for Tuesday! It's not nice having somebody mess around with your ears! But once it's done you will feel so much better! Yes?
ReplyDeleteOh I hope so, it is much easier now that the pain has subsided, I just hate not being able to hear how loud I am speaking.I have a horror of shouting at somebody.
DeleteLove the skirt pam , I have been with my daughter today a belated mothers day present she has treated me to some fabric and lining to make a dress so hopefully it will turn out ok , I had have to have my ears syringed every winter in my last house , Its really strange but since i have been here 2 years i have not had to have them done , Its weird really lo xx
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your sewing, the jacket is now done, it is my first try at a lined jacket and I am reasonably happy with it. I will certainly be wearing it. I am not looking forward to the treatment but will be happy to have normal ears again.
DeleteOh no! I hope you feel better soon. Looking forward to seeing the jacket.
ReplyDeleteI am coping better today, the jacket is finished, I will post it tomorrow.
DeleteAwww.... poor you! Not nice having ears syringed :-( Hope it isn't too painful. What a great job you have made of your skirt. I look forward to seeing the jacket tomorrow. Just need the weather to be able to wear it. Thank you for admitting to a sewing failure, it makes me feel better when mine go wrong. I have to say, I don't know where you've gone wrong, but if you say it's wrong then I believe you! Enjoy the weekend Pam, hope the weather is better so that you and Ben can enjoy some dry walks. CMW
ReplyDeleteThe shirt is just a bit big, it was the patchwork block that was so wrong, mind you when I had finished overlocking the sleeves into the jacket I realised that one was in the wrong way and had to be completely unpicked. All sorted now.
DeleteI've been putting off having my right (slightly deaf) ear syringed for years now . . . My mum was very deaf from her 30s onwards and I hope I am not developing a similar problem, although I think it's probably just wax! I hope you are better soon and not having to take the pills which make you feel sick.
ReplyDeleteI love the butterflies material, and a great re-use of a pretty fabric.
My fingers are crossed for Tuesday. I am happy with the fabric, I love the colour and the pattern, it was serendipitous.
DeletePoor you Pam I hope you get your ears all sorted out ,and feel better.
ReplyDeleteLove your skirt fab material so pretty.

Thank you Rosezeeta, I hope so to. The skirt hangs really well, there are more in my future.
DeleteI really hope you are feeling a bit better today, enjoy your weekend and once Tuesday is here, get it over and done with and then you should find a treat for your self.
ReplyDeleteI think that that I have had more than enough treats for a while, but perhaps I should sleep on it.
DeleteI am forever having problems with my ears so I know how you feel. I just hope it doesn't get worse over the weekend. Happy Easter to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteMy heartfelt empathy Pam to you my dear re your ear infection. Ear aches are truly awful. I thought something was wrong as it has been some days since your last post . I hope you can enjoy Easter xxxx thank you for my apron , it is adorable. Your sewing is always beautiful .
ReplyDeletePam I forgot to mention a big congratulations as I believe in March it has been two years of blogging . Thank you for your blog and for your friendship . Xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteYou must be feeling poorly if you have a new toy and haven't used it yet ! I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI am 70% deaf so know only too well how loss of hearing affects you. I have to wear an aid.
