Wonderful weather for ducks and crafters

I have hunkered down, stocked up on tea and am crafting away, warm and dry while watching storm Abigail do her worst.
The rain petered out just before mid day and I whizzed Ben out for a good walk. He was more than ready as we were only gone for a few moments first thing. We left the house during a lull in the rain but after about 100 yards the rain hammered down. Ben stopped dead in his tracks, did a turn around worthy of a London cab and dragged me back to the house.
We made up for it this lunchtime.

Meanwhile the sewing machine has been whirring away and many bobbins have been emptied, and each time the machine had a quick clean out, it is amazing how much fluff collects in such a short time.

I have made 8 of these to go to Perth, half of them are finished and I have the binding to hand sew on the rest. I hope to get them in the post Monday.

A set 4 of these is finished,

I reversed the prints on 2 just because it seemed like a good idea.

While I was playing I made coasters with the scraps, all these are finished, pressed and put away.

The blocks for the 2 charm square quilts  are stacked and ready to sew, I played with the seasonal fabric just for a change of colour. I will be back on the charm offensive Monday.

The crochet squares are multiplying steadily, they provide a change of posture and pace, I plug away at them while the telly plays in the evenings.

To keep body and soul together I made a batch of simple soup, I saw it on a blog, I think it was Sue from Suffolk, just grated carrots, diced onion cooked till soft and a tin of tomatoes added and blitzed. I did not fancy onion so grated a courgette instead, I also added a bit of root ginger finely shredded, a red chilli sliced and half the seeds removed and a good shake of garlic granules. I cooked them in some of the reduced chicken stock and added tomatoes, salt and pepper. Once blitzed with a wand blender I reheated and it was very very good.

So easy and so good, there was plenty for 2 and some for another day.

I will be crocheting away while The Doctor struts his stuff shortly and then I will catch up with Strictly, such excitement.

I have 5 minutes, just time to make a brew, and maybe find a biscuit.

  1. Pam you have been really busy. Love the story of your walkies, so funny. My dogs are the same. They put one paw out the front door and if its wet run for their beds.

  2. That sounds fabulous soup - I think I will give that a go on Monday.

Your Christmas sewing looks lovely. I got my machine out, then we bought a Belfast sink which is in pride of place on the table as it's too heavy to lift again off the floor, so I now have no room to sew!

    1. The soup was very good, I think that it needs a good flavoured stock for body.

  6. Abigail certainly arrived in style at 5am here, apart from some branches down and the mountain road turning into a river the only damage was a broken window in the greenhouse, the perfect day for soup and it looks lovely :-)

    1. There was no damage in my garden but there are several branches down in the village and a few tattered shrubs here and there.
