On Monday night I was unable to sleep, my mind was going over all the things that I had seen and whirling with the ideas that I want to try. I finally dropped off sometime after 3.00, but only had a few hours.
Last night I crawled in to bed at 9.30, already 3/4 asleep, at some point in the night I was dragged to consciousness by hot breath on my neck and a weight on my shoulder. I froze, while my senses analysed the noise and then it struck me, Ben was on my pillow with his head on my left shoulder,(I sleep on my front with my head turned to my right side) snoring gently and breathing hot air on me. I was so tired that I then went straight back into a deep sleep. When I woke this morning, he was in his proper place, all innocent and curled up in a ball.
Back to quilts, a few random photos as promised.
Of course I went here, and it was a lovely set up, no freebies though. I was too excited to think about asking, DUH but I did make a purchase.
I want to try some landscape quilts in the future. There are some wonderful views in my valley and in Ceredigion that would make a fantastic quilt.
The detailed stitching is glorious.
I like sampler and block of the month quilts. This may not be in my go to colours but it is a lovely work of art.
Some of my purchases.
These scarves were £5 each or 4 for £15, Francesca and I, for the sake of economy, had 2 each. Bargain. I have a bit of an Owl thing right now.
The one thing that I wanted to find was Kate Spain,s new collection. Here it is There is a quilt in my head using this, but it is for next year. You have to plan ahead as fabric this lovely will be sold out fast.
I bought yardage of this print from the collection and will be making a pillowcase for Francesca for this year with some of it. Her quilt for, the C word, is made from Flurry and Joy, two of Kate,s other C collections and this fabric will compliment it.
This is the white on white from Jingle, it will be the background in next years quilt. The one that I saw used a solid white, but I felt that this would be more sumptuous.
I looked all over for Clover quilt clips and they were a horrendous price, £9 for 10 on one stall.
Then I found Purple Stitches and got 40 for £10, bargain. I now have enough clips to have 2 large quilts ready to hand sew the binding down at one time.
I have my second cuppa at my elbow and Ben at my feet waiting for a walk so I am off now. There will be more photos during the week.
Remember the giveaway, all followers, wherever you may be, are welcome to enter. I have 2 goody bags and a few extras have dropped in so far.
I will not show the extras, let there be a little surprise for the 2 winners. I will close this on Friday night local time, and get it drawn over the weekend. The winners will be announced on Monday, if you have email linked to your profile I will email you or if you have a blog I will post a comment there.

I absolutely adore the blue owl fabric. It's gorgeous! The landscape quilts are very beautiful. You can almost run out of superlatives!!
ReplyDeleteI have an Owl thing going on and love my scarf. I am still whirling from the amassed quilty loveliness.
DeleteThose quilts are amazing, I don't think I could every acheive anything like that, I have only made 2 basic patchwork square quilts before, (self taught), but I have to say I was pleased with my efforts, I want to make another one in the winter for the spare room.
ReplyDeleteI am completely self taught, I have been sewing since before I went to school. It does not matter what pattern you use as long as it pleases you and you enjoy the process.
DeleteI have nights when mt brain works overtime and I can't sleep. I usually end up getting up and writing lists to empty my head. it sometimes works!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a quilt like the one of the flowers outside the white house before.. amazing.
I'd love to have my name in the hat.

I am having one of those nights now. There were so many quilts, all amazing. You are in.
Deleteit pays to shop around at these events, good bargain, I was very good and only bought one panel and three fat quarters of a specific design that was on my list. I have although been online and purchased a couple of things that caught my eye but didnt buy at the time :-)
ReplyDeleteI was good and resisted several bargains as they were not what I was looking for, although I looked at a set of Amy Butler fat quarters 5 times, half price, just the wrong colours for me.
DeletePam your tales really make me laugh. Loving the snippets from the show. Could I be put in the draw please.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to make you laugh, I don't like to be serious we all need to laugh more. It uses more muscles and energy so you can have more cake.
DeleteI would love to put you in the draw but it is only for followers, you have till Friday night to get in.
Ohh Pam I love the Jingle fabric I really shouldn't be ordering any more after my small(ish) deliveries this morning but like you say, you have to consider it selling out! You've bought some lovely things, quilt clips are expensive aren't they I need some more but not at the price some places are charging. Naughty Ben, Rocky is only allowed upstairs when Mike is working away xx
ReplyDeleteI love most of Kate Spain's collections, I have a fat quarter set of Cuzco tucked away for a rainy day.Jingle is really lovely and I was determined to snap some up. Ben has the run of the house but usually sleeps on his bed, there is one in all the rooms.
DeleteMy grandmother would have loved the Jingle fabric. I'll have to see if my local sewing store has it. And thank you for sharing pictures of those beautiful quilts. I wish I were so talented.
ReplyDeleteJingle will be available online in many stores. There are more pictures to come, I am quite green with envy at many of them.
DeleteDo not enter me in your nice draw. Just wanted to say seems like you had a wonderful time at the quilt show! I too always feel so inspired when I get back home from the Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival. Owls seem to be the in thing again. So cute. Have some applique owls to do up. I may have to find some of that white on white from the Jingle line. Love it! Sure Ben is happy to have you back home and wanted to snuggle...;-)

I have so many ideas of things to try that I had to make a list. All I need now is an extra day each week just to sew. Ben has settled down now but still follows me from room to room.
DeleteOh dear Ben has been caught out, Purdy sleeps on the cushion in my chair some nights, I know it's her because she leaves white hairs on the cushion. Love your bargains, I always like to look every where before buying anything.
ReplyDeleteBen is just so happy that I am back so I did not want to tell him off, and I was just too sleepy to worry about it. I saved a fair amount by having a good look round before buying anything.
DeleteI love the Kate Spain fabric - she's one of my favourite designers!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for some of those clips, I wonder if Purple Stitches are online??
Yes they are, I aim to visit their site soon and have a nosy round. Kate Spain has been a favourite since I started quilting, her colours are bold and most of her collections will mix and match.
DeletePam, I loved the comment about Ben sleeping in your bed during the night and, then, appearing all innocent in the morning. I would love to be considered for your draw, if you plan to mail things to Canada.
ReplyDeleteMyra, from Winnipeg, Canada where we have had drizzle, rain, and thunder all morning.
The landscape quilts are truly awesome, quilting is such an unrecognised art form.
ReplyDeleteYou saw and bought some beautiful things!!! I love your new fabrics, they are gorgeous aren't they. Those landscape quilts are fabulous too!!! So glad that you had such a good time - and that your night time sleeping partner wasn't so scary after all! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm not as bad as I used to be, but I am often awake until the small hours with thoughts and ideas buzzing around my head. Those picture quilts are amazing.
ReplyDeleteIf I should be lucky enough to be picked out for your draw, I already have the Dresden plate templates.

I sadly couldn't make the FoQ this year but have been the last 3 or 4 years and have loved it. Reading your comments made me feel I had been there myself! Please could you add my name to the draw
