Sunshine all the way.

The Amman Valley is basking in wall to wall sunshine, it is glorious. It does mean that I have to work in the front garden in the morning and the back garden in the late afternoon. By lunchtime both garden are in full sun and I become a sticky, glowing mess.

That is fine, it means that I can either prepare food, read or do some crafting.
Who mentioned chores?
Yes I do a bit of that as well, just enough to be decent.
Laundry is a doddle.
Wash, peg out, get in, iron and put away. All in a couple of hours or so.

I was just pounced on by this creature,

He has one of his new toys, a small water bottle (empty) inside a sock. It makes all the crunching, crackling noises that a little dog could wish for and can be shaken and thrown about without harming anything or anybody.

Butter wouldn't melt in my mouth, look at my big eyes.

Ben has retreated to one of the beds and is keeping his head down. The wisdom of age.

We have been for our walk and breakfast has been served and eaten.

Back to the post.

The fruit trees are looking good, we have had strawberries a couple of times and will soon be using gooseberries.

There is a decent crop of apples and the Jostaberry is laden.

Howgate Wonder.

Jostaberry.

Bramley.
Safe behind a Herbie proof fence.

The step over apple tree, an unknown variety.

A forest of mint.
I use some almost every day.

Rhubarb with some Strawberry escapees.

A bit of colour.

My potted Holly, it will be going into the ground at some point.

The wheelbarrow is coming along and will be ready to plant up in a couple of days. I have decided against bulbs and will be having a look in the garden centre for ideas, maybe today.

Before. After photos to follow.

Now it is time for a cuppa before I get the washing pegged out, there may be rain later depending on which weather forecast you watch.

    1. I am now about to get out for another walk with Herbie and Rufus. It is sunny but with a gentle breeze to keep it cooler than the past few days.

  2. I am going to sound like my mum now but it is good to get the washing outside, satisfaction that no energy has been used to dry it. It makes me want to move to year round sunshine. Great little idea with the dog toy. x

    1. For me the best thing about line dried washing is the fresh smell, no chemical notes or over strong "flower" scents.

  4. I have no comprehension of the word "chore" from June through to November. :) Your doggie photos are very cute!

  5. We've come over all thick cloud and strong winds today but it's very muggy.
Love Herbie's bottle in a sock. Smudge used to like that.
Things in your garden are looking very lovely.

  6. Hi Pam, I just wanted to say thanks for the bottle in a sock idea. Betty is very hard on toys, they last on average about 5 or 10 minutes before her very strong jaws destroy them. She absolutely loved the bottle in the sock - loves Dad's socks anyway, is always grabbing and running off with them (you'd think he'd learn not to leave them lying about). She adored the crackly noises and played with it joyfully, tail wagging like mad, for a good half hour yesterday morning, before the sock was ripped apart. Will do it again as an occasional treat.

    Your fruits all look marvellous.

    1. Herbie destroys his toys, not just by chewing but he grabs them and shakes them quite violently. I think that it his Jack Russel rat killing instinct.
