Cleaning frenzy.

Today we both felt better after a touch of the lurgy, once we had filled the tanks with tea and coffee it was all systems go.
The house has been vacuumed from top to bottom, bathroom and kitchen fettled,  laundry done and dogs walked.

The SO decided that his indoor tool store needed a tidy up, Herbie was really eager to help and had to be evicted, twice.

After a little sit down and a cuppa at lunchtime we walked Herbie to the next village, around about a 2 mile round trip. The SO had to drop off a repeat prescription and I popped into the local shop to see if there were any bargains for the taking. A tray of chicken wings is now in the freezer and a slab of Rump steak is waiting to be sliced up. Not a bad little find, both were less than half price and their prices are comparable to the big 4, often cheaper.

The rest of today will be gentle, tomorrow I plan on "doing" the paintwork, with the dogs rushing around and doors constantly opening the dust seems to make a beeline for every white surface.

Can you buy dust coloured paint?

As the month draws to a close I am turning my thoughts towards The Decorations.
Every day I see more houses fully decked inside and out, I would be sick of them by Christmas.
We will probably go Under The Bed Diving at the weekend and pull them all out.

Dinner tonight is a Broccoli and Pasta Cheese, with a crunchy gratin topping. All made and ready to slide into the oven, I plan on putting a curry in at the same time ready for tomorrow. I hate putting the oven on for one thing, it seems such a waste of power.

The SO is busy making pom poms and I have a few more granny squares to crochet. I did cast on a new pair of socks Saturday evening, with both the Strictly shows I managed to get the toe increases done and a few straight rounds, now they will rest till next week.
I can not see myself touching them during the It Takes Two shows, I want to crack on with the blanket. I have three weeks to finish but would like it done and dusted well within that time.

Now I do believe that it is time for a cuppa.

    1. Mmmmm, thank you for the invitation but unfortunately I am fully booked. I do have a surfeit of energy most of the time luckily dog walking burns quite a bit of it off.

    1. I blame Brexit, we are all sick of hearing about it.

  3. It's definitely the time of year for lurgies. I'm glad you both feel better.
I'm just keeping on top of things for the next couple of weeks and then I shall have a top to bottom mucking out session ready for Christmas.
Love the sound of the pasta bake.
    Hugs-x-

  4. I need to ask what is "the lurgy"? We don't have that term in the area of Canada I live in. Sounds horrible. Glad you are feeling better now.

    God bless.

    1. It is just a slang name for any non specific cold type illness.

  5. Goodness you have been busy. I do like a pasta bake at this time of year. May have to make one over the weekend now you've got me thinking about it. Its funny how we all do the big clean before Christmas isn't it. D always asks if the Queen is likely to pop in for a cup of tea and scone en route to Sandringham during this momentous occasion of if you don't move quick enough she'll give you a quick dusting too. Our particular event will commence this weekend with hopefully the tree up by the end of it but as the chimney is being swept today I shall await and see what chaos is around when I get home first.

    1. I do miss my open fires but not the sweeps visit, even with the vacuum cleaner there is always soot.

  6. I think my epitaph will be "She fought the good fight against dust but was eventually defeated", LOL. Goodness knows how our grandmothers coped without modern appliances and the additional dust from coal fires. Lovely blog post, as usual. I do enjoy reading what you write.

    1. My grandmother coped by assigning dusting duties to us, all those shadow boxes full of little things. Then my mother built a collection of bird ornaments. Now I keep very few things out.

  7. Well hello Pam! Guess you've noticed that I can't keep up any longer. :) I am slowing down and the days are getting faster! "Dust colored paint"! now that is something I could use too. Where does all the dust come from?? I plan on pulling out some boxes of Christmas stuff today too. Around here, some folks had their Christmas decorations out before Thanksgiving.

    1. I am certain that my crafting adds a shed load of dust to the house. I only have to see what collects in the machine race.

  8. Dust coloured paint....ha ha that made me giggle.
I hope you have better weather than we have today for your dog walking, heavy rain and high wind and it's rather cold.

    1. We are just back from a long walk, the rain finally blew over and I pounced. Herbie turns into a hyper active fiend if he misses a good walk.

  9. Dust coloured paint? Depends on the colour of the dust, doesn't it? ;-) Ours has a reddish tint--very apparent on almost any surface. :-\

If you have some energy to spare, please send it in this direction. Thankfully, I clean as I go, but still need to "clean the corners," as my mother used to say, about every two months. When did weekends become so short? Even the four-day weekend seemed too short this year!

Love that Herbie was ready to assist your SO with tidying his tool collection. :-)
