And Breathe

Thank you for your comments on my last post. We got the good news last night that the test had a negative result.

As Fancesca is very sensible she is being even more careful than ever.

Many of you mentioned that people are being less than prudent in their reactions, attitude and the way they go about their lives. I can only think that our education system has failed miserably. If people holding down responsible careers and jobs are unable to behave responsibly in their personal lives and are not able to understand basic rules then there is little hope for the future.

I see that school bus drivers are concerned about the numbers of passengers, who as well as being close together are not required to wear masks. Surely the safety of the staff is down to the employer.

Have these people not heard of "Due Diligence" or even better "Corporate Manslaughter".

More to the point, what are the parents saying?

We seem to have become a world solely concerned with "the bottom line" and ever increasing profit margins.

Perhaps if we were not such a throwaway society it might be different.

I am not sure whether the words "not yet recycled" or the lack of any guidance on packaging is more annoying. There has been plenty of time for all packaging to be made recycable. Sir David Attenborough has been banging on about it ofr what seems like decades. HRH The Prince of Wales has ruffled many a set of corporate feathers over the years and even Hugh Fearlessly-eatsitall( no offence intended) has been seen on national television promoting the cause.

The thing is that unless each and every one of us makes a noise nothing will improve in the near future.

Now I have put the soap box away.

Keep safe and beware the idiots among us.

    1. We are so happy, but still think of the many who are not so fortunate

  2. Around here parents seem to think that children are not as susceptible to the virus and even if they get it won't pass it on. Therefore they are fighting to get rid of masks in the schools. I foresee lots of cases coming up.

To me they parents are supposed to be adults and want what is best for their children. Right now, I see them as more infantile then their children..... Not all parents, just what seems to be the vast majority of them around here.

    God bless.

    1. There has been so many garbled versions put out, experts contradicting each other. Add in general don't care attitude and it is a recipe for disaster.

  4. Thank goodness the test was negative. Here too people are openly flouting the rules and they'll be the ones who complain loudest when we have a second wave (now on its way) and we have tougher restrictions. In my view, the 10pm curfew will not make much difference regarding contact at pubs. When people have had a few drinks caution goes out of hhe window. We are venturing out as little as possible. Stay well Pam.

    1. The restictions will have no effect on us, we have been living mostly self contained since the beginning. Now that our area is going into local lockdown we will need to do nothing different. If I can not get it delivered safely then we will manage without.

    1. If the facts and regulations were laid out in plain language, an in the same format everywhere it would be much easier. Bubbles, extended households atc can be fudged to mean what people want them to. A clear and simple statement and a list of do's and do nots is all that is needed.

  6. I'm glad she was negative and hopefully the housemate will have better senses in the future after realizing what inconvenience was caused. I agree with Jackie-its the parents being childish. ids just do what they need to do for th emost part and get on with their days. They want to move forward. Young adults though-I am sick of college parties, or young adult parties that keep the disruption going. Bu then again, people still are having large weddings and disregarding risk.

  7. It was a very big relief. This will get worse yet as so many people have the "it won't happen to me" syndrome.
