Sewing in the rain, just sewing and knitting and crocheting in the rain.

Not really in the rain, indoors watching the rain cascade down the windows. To be truthful we have had some very hot and sunny spells, it was so hot in Neath yesterday afternoon that I had to take my sweater off and bundle it into my bag, I was so happy that I had a short sleeved tee shirt on.

Ben has had his quota of walks, mostly in the dry and sunny bits. I am completely up to date on the washing and ironing. I have no idea where it all comes from, perhaps I should write a laundry diary for a few weeks.

My preserves shelves are groaning with the weight although I do have some earmarked for gifts so the situation should ease.

This is going to take up my time for a few days, it is big and takes some wrangling, it will be a gift and I want to take my time. No unpicking.

I have been neglecting my Granny Squares, but this colour is now done with and I will start another tonight.

My new hat is finished and I have worn it. The yarn is Aran weight and is super cheap from Poundstretcher, £3.99 for 250gs. I can not remember why or when I bought it, certainly before I moved here.

..

I have become enamored of the colour combination and quite fancy knitting a cardigan or jumper. The colours are just subdued enough that they do not jump out and slap you in the face. I know that it washes well  as I used the same brand to make my previous hat and it has been washed 3 times.

I managed a bit of baking this morning, it is on the other blog, just click on the link in the side bar, I have delivered the pudding to my friends, they may have eaten it already.

The sun is shining now and the sky is a bright blue but it is not as hot as yesterday, plenty good enough for an extra walk though. I will drop in and have a little time with Maggie, I am hoping that she has heard about the flat that she wants.

  1. It's just started pouring with rain again here so I'm expecting my daughter home from school soon in need of a hot drink and towel! That quilt looks magnificent, someone is going to be very happy indeed. I love the colours in your hat too, may have to go see if I can find some xx

    1. I am hoping it will, I have ordered some yarn. The last weather forecast that I heard said that tomorrow should be a much better day, fingers crossed.

  5. We've had a day and a half of relentless rain too, Pam, though it has stopped now. Ah well, we enjoyed the sunshine last week. I'm chuffed with my shelves too - 6 lb each apple chilli jelly, damson chutney, and ordinary apple jelly, and a nice demijohn of damson and blackberry gin on the go!. I rather like the colour scheme of your hat; I've nearly finished Jim's crocheted throw, then I can start on my ripple blanet, I've suddenly had the courage to have a go with! Lxx

    1. I make apple chilli jelly and plum chilli jam, both are great in stir fries giving a glossy sticky finish.
My crochet has slipped slightly out of focus for a few days but is back at the top of the list now.

  6. Love the hat, the colours are great & I like the pattern, did you knit it flat & sew it up, or knit in the round? I've been knitting hats for charity & would like another pattern if you have time to share, not keen on using double end pins tho! You have been busy as ever, Vee x

  7. I knitted it flat. the pattern is on the sidebar on Through the Keyhole, Jo knitted it for her daughter. I have made 1 following the pattern exactly and 3 changing the decreasing to go over 4 rows.

  8. Gosh, I can't keep up with you - you're in overdrive Pam! I am crafting every spare moment (not that there are enough of them yet!) and enjoying the teddy knitting and the crochet cushion cover, though that is rather slow going.

LOVE your quilts. I must get you over to help me where I am stuck with the ones I started making for my girls last year . . .

    1. I have christened the big quilt "Paddy McGinty's Goat" It takes so much shoving, pulling and pushing. Always happy to come over and sew, much better than housework. I just realised that I made too many lilac granny squares, my starter for the next project.
