Wednesday Work Out

Dinner last night was great, there was loads of Apple Crisp and nobody had room for seconds (3 portions in the freezer).

I am ready for the winter as far as leisure time goes. Now I am getting the stocks in order. I have started stripping out the cupboards, cleaning shelves, lining and then re stacking and writing an inventory. While I am in the mood I will be doing the fridges and freezers, and oh deep joy I may as well do the crockery and utensil cupboards and drawers. Then there will be the pots and pans, baking tins. Cutting to the chase I am going through every nook and cranny. I hope to jettison some unused equipment, the CS will benefit. Then there will be a "fill the shelves" shop. I know that I am set with meat and fish and the preserve shelves are groaning. I will also be looking at cleaning and laundry stocks and the bathroom stuff will be checked as well.

Wish me joy, I am not a lover of this type of housework. I do have a freezer contents list but it is a mess of crossing out and adding on, I am thinking of a laminated list. Or maybe a blackboard?

Now I am back to the cupboards.

    1. It was not too bad at all, it was just getting off my bum and starting that was difficult.

  2. I have tried a blackboard for shopping lists and inventories but then found I had to copy them out onto paper for taking with me to the shop. I now use paper and clip it to a board. It is much more convenient and saves writing the list twice. Hope that helps. Take care.

    1. I will try a variety /combination of methods and see what works for me. I have drawn up a meal plan for the next 4 weeks, there is space for shopping list but now the freezers are sorted there will not be much to buy.

    1. I want to get a 3 month stock of all the basics in, then if bad weather sets in it will not matter.

  5. Hi Pam, wow! That's all I can say! WIll you do it all again in Spring? And would you pop round and do mine for me? Just joking, sometimes, if I min the mood, this IS the kind of housework I can do pretty well without having to gee myself up first. but I do have to be in the mood!

I have a white board, with a magnetic strip, attached to the freezer door. I write on it in china graph and rub things out as they're used with a wipe I keep next to it (doesn't matter that it dries out, it works fine. See if this suits you. I think I bought mine at the Range.

    1. I am {fingers crossed and touch wood) planning on staying on top of it. I have been so busy in the garden and sewing that I really let things slip. Now that the freezers are done as well I am quite euphoric. I have listed contents and quantities on 2 sheets of paper, 1 for each freezer and will cross off and add on as and when. The white board idea might be better for me, at least on the upright. I will be near a Range on Saturday and will have a look.
