It's Raining, It's Pouring.

Nobody here is snoring. That's because of the thunder and lightning.

I don't give a fig though, Fran and I set off late morning and had a stroll round Lampeter, and yes I did buy more fabric. A panel (I will share that later) and some fat quarters.

These are for a little project that I have in mind.

On the way back we stopped in Llandeilo and just felt obliged to have an ice cream, Honeycomb for Fran and Fruits of the Forest for me.
Then we went for a walk round and found a new wool shop, filled with yarny lusciousness. I did not buy anything but had a chat with the owners. They told me that on Tuesday afternoons there is a knit and natter from 2 till 4.
Then to cap it they are having a delivery of sock yarn, free patterns and will be having someone to help with virgin sock makers.

But before I rattle on further I have to do a show and tell.

Yesterday morning the postie brought me a parcel, a surprise.

I opened it up to find these,

A glorious crochet wall hanging mounted on a hoop.

Even the hanger was exquisite

It came with a card ( now who forgot to take a picture) with a flock of butterflies .
And a crochet book, just in time for my next wreath, ( I have the polystyrene form)., and a tin of truffles.

This parcel of delights came from Sooze, of  Her indoors, Him outdoors.

Thank you so much Sooze, I love them all. I have a few of the "20 to make" books but not this one.

Back to fabric, I have 3 patterns floating, nay flying round my head. I have started cutting for the first one, the pattern is drawn up for the second and I have fabric on order (half price from Hobbycraft) for the third.

I have started to gather my fabrics together,

Fat quarters from Lady sew and sew, they are very cheap if you take pot luck.

More of those and still more to decide upon.

Some yardage from stash , and still more to come.

The rain has stopped and the sun is shining.
Ben and I are off outside while we can.

  1. Pretty fabric, pretty wall hanging!
Love the book, I've been thinking of crocheting a flower necklace.
For a long time, I have yet to pull out a hook. Lol

    1. I have a new crochet wreath planned so the book is very timely.

  2. Oh dear....I added to my stash today too. A charm pack and some white fabric for Marlowe's quilt, a bargainous fat quarter stack reduced to £10, two more quilt rulers and a metre of fabric for bag lining.
    Love your selection of fabrics-x-

    1. That is an amazing price for a fat quarter bundle. I need to look for a couple of new rulers, and a new cutting board is on the list as well.

  3. Love the wall hanging and the stunning fabrics. No rain here as yet, unusual it been a Bank Holiday.

    1. Today is fine and sunny again, it was at 7 this morning.

  4. I was in fabric buying mode too yesterday, though was buying for dressmaking for myself! Your fabrics are lovely and I saw a darling panel that I think I might have to go and get in the near future! I'd just spent enough yesterday! It's not rained for a couple of days here so knitting outside will be the crafty choice today! Speaking of the Thunder and Lightning, did you hear the news from Paris and Germany yesterday that lots of people were struck by lightning in awful thunderstorms? Scary stuff.

    1. I heard the news, dreadful. I have seen a tree stuck and that was super scary. One flash and instant fire of Biblical intensity.
I am going back tomorrow to get a coordinating print for the binding, and a knit and natter session at the new yarn shop.

  5. So glad you like all the things, Pam. Some really lovely fabrics, colours and patterns there....speaking as one who doesn't sew, it always amazes me that colours and patterns which seem to have little relation to each other, combine when pieced and sewn together to make such glorious quilts.

    1. Colour is such a personal thing, I see turquoise and some see green. I look at some designer collections and think Oh No, half of these just don't gel.
I am truly so pleased with my gifts, I have pulled yarn to start some flowers tonight.

  6. Your eye for colour is amazing-look forward to seeing what you are making. Catriona, and unusually it's a beautiful day for a holiday weekend in Scotland.

    1. Thank you Catriona, I have been to Scotland a few times and it rained on each visit. Mind you it is not exactly arid in Wales.
