Enough is Enough.

I am tired of all the repeats of the repeats of the best of the repeats of the results of Brexit.
I personally do not think that the majority was big enough to start proceedings to leave.
BUT I do not want to read another endless whine about it.
So the Labour MP,s are leaving, okay, it is a free world so just go. Do not drone on about it, I do not particularly care why they went I have left jobs on a whim and for good reason, lots of people do.
Shut up and get on with the rest of your lives.
Whatever happens the world will still keep turning, half of us will be on a diet the rest will either be thin or obese.
Some of us will be crafting, some will be grafting and some will be skiving.
The sun will shine or it won't. It will rain or we will have drought.
Night will still follow day and some of us will still be walking the night away with the glazed eyes of the insomniac. ( Ben will still be snoring while I pace.)

I am a bit peeved that I can not find the exact zips that I want without paying an arm and a leg for them. I do not whinge, I have altered my idea to fit what I WILL afford. No way will I pay over £5 for a zip.

My tall peas are full of flower and thin pods, I look every day waiting for the first fat pods. The mange tout are in flower. I expect them to suddenly produce more pods than I can possibly cope with. The Rocket potatoes in buckets are wonderful, each is giving me enough for 2 meals and a gift.
My spring cabbage is sweet and crisp, just as good raw as steamed.
The carrots are not quite ready yet but the strawberries are bountiful. I could make jam but still have 5 jars from last year, so I am eating them warm from the plant, what sacrifices we gardeners have to make.
Ben has had a bath and is lying in a sunny patch, snoring his head off. He has chicken and veg for his dinner tonight. I am having my spicy chickpeas and mushrooms on a bed of lightly steamed cabbage. I am quite off meat just now.
Not a bad thing really, I watched a program last night about healthy diets across the world. We did not fare too well, all the better ones had a very low amount of meat, much more fish than we eat but many times more veg, fruit and whole grains.
I already eat in a similar fashion but will do some more research. It was awful to see that the Designer Chefs have pushed the price of Quinoa out of reach of the people who grow it, I am surprised that it is not farmed in this country, I was growing it many years ago when I had a large garden.
There is also the weed I know as Fat Hen, it produces tall spikes absolutely loaded with seeds, during the last war years these seeds were dried and ground to a flour consistency, my Granny did it and used it half and half with wheat flour.
There, now look what I have done, fell off the soap box and wandered off up the garden path.
Better make a brew before I go chop mushrooms for dinner.

    1. I don't need a politician to lead me up the garden path, I know the way very well.

  2. I'm sick of all the nastiness going on particularly on Facebook. So much that I have stopped reading anything to do with it.
Zips are awfully pricey aren't they?
    Enjoy your chickpeas-x-

    1. The bag zips, and all the others, that I buy from Jaycotts are very reasonable but their extra long ones are a ridiculous price.

  3. What a fantastic post especially on a Monday-you really caught my own thoughts and articulated them so well! Sorry about the insomnia-my OH is having a run of it just now and he's exhausted. Catriona

    1. Luckily I do get a good nights sleep every now and then. Mind you 4 hours unbroken sleep is good and plenty for me, if only I could manage it every night.

There, I've just got off my soap box.

    1. Sorry Mum, even some of the blogs that I read are droning on about it. I am not a fan of politics but had to let off steam.

  6. We are fighting processed foods, I've not eaten ham in months. We make everything from scratch, plus eat meat free once or twice a week. Plus I love fish, we also eat seasonal foods, so we are loving the strawberry season.

    1. The only thing that I miss is sausages, really meaty ones from the butcher.

  7. APPLAUSE!!
I feel exactly the same about Brexit - I want to exit the Brexit. The only bright spot in the endlessness of it all was seeing that some in Finland are calling for a Fixit! I guess we could call for a Waxit in Wales too...

What a difference a few miles makes! We are just to the east of Rhayader and our strawberries are still in flower, the peas are not flowering at all and the beans look pale and weak. But we have spinich, assorted lettuces, courgettes, chard and a few beetroots that escaped the cull last year or have seeded themselves. Our first salad potatoes are ready too.

    1. I did look at them on Jaycotts but am not sure whether I would use it all in one colour. I will have a look on ebay, thanks Dawn.

  9. How about independence for Suffolk!
We could charge trucks going in and out of Felixstowe docks and make enough to keep the county going for years!

  10. Would Velcro strips not work for your bags? I am not sure how much they cost where you are.

    1. Yes they would work but I just like the finish that a zip gives.

  11. Oh Pam - so well said - I've 'unfollowed' a number of blogs and people that I followed on Instagram recently because of the plain nasty, selfish and childish (I will stamp my foot and scream and scream till I get what I want type) statements being made over Brexit.
I was going to say have you tried the zips on a roll too so a big thank you to Dawn for saying that we can get them on ebay - I've been paying £8 for a roll of 10 from Crafters Companium......eBay from now on! xx

  12. How I agree with you over the hoo-hah and the plain NASTINESS of people (esp. on Facebook) over the Referendum. I was really quite shocked to find someone I thought of as a good friend, having a go at me. Totally unnecessary.

I really loved hearing about your grandparents using Fat Hen ground down for flour in the War. That's so interesting and right up my street.

  13. I have heard, on several occasions, that we Baby Boomers are to blame for the result of the referendum. Well that is a democracy at work.
I often think that I will try the fat hen thing but have never gotten around to it. I may grow Aramanth next year and process the seed from that, very high in protein. I used to grow rows of it years ago.

  14. Pam, we are having a total blockade of TV news until all the nonsense is over and done with. I shall reseach Fat Hen as food from the hedgerow is something I find really interesting.

  17. I bought a zip yesterday at Dunelm mill that wasn't too expensive, don't know if you have one of those near you? They are more expensive than you think though aren't they!
