Soup on the hob, Bread in the oven and Ben on my lap

Thursday nearly over, mind you I had to put the TV on this morning to check what day it was.
We have had 2 days of glorious sun and today dawned grey and damp, not to worry Ben still wanted his walks, I have sewing, crochet and housework to do.

I turfed everything out of the cupboard under the stairs, didn't find an owl, or a wand.
Somethings have gone back, some have just gone and a few have been moved, 3 boxes of jam jars that I bought 5 years ago for instance. I bought a massive amount at a very good price, with the lids, and still hadn't opened these.

I now have everything at close hand, no need to empty it to get the mop bucket out. Of course I now have my jars and lids handy for when I start preserving, Marmalade soon.

A quick and easy dinner, soup that I made yesterday and some bread made today from my AF bread mix.

I used 750 g of bread mix and made 6 decent size rolls and a 20 x 30 cm Focaccia. The Rosemary was from the garden and has been growing all winter. I cut the loaf into 4 as it was quite deep.

I had about 1/3rd of a cabbage in the fridge so sliced and blanched it and put some in the soup, the rest is in the fridge.

I added a handful of frozen peas and the same of sweetcorn, it was delicious.
No sewing or crochet, Ben's arthritis is playing up so he has spent a lot of time sleeping on my lap. This happens every now and then, I have pills for him and he is usually better the next day.

He is now climbing back onto my lap so I will just post and write again tomorrow.

  1. Did you mention sunshine? Not much sign of that in my bit of Scotland!

  2. Try Ben on Turmeric. Google it, great results on my 32 year old horse and my 14 year Labrador. Hope he feels better soon.

  4. Can you say how you did the bread/rolls please - is the AF bread mix easy to use?

    1. I just weighed out 750 gm and added warm water and a good slug of olive oil till it made a dough, easy peasy. The mixer kneaded it for 10 minutes, I left it to prove and then divided it in 2 parts. I added extra oil to 1 portion and turned it into Focaccia, it only took around 30 minutes to prove and 25 minutes to cook.

  6. I really must do my under stairs. Many things fall over as I'm trying to reach something else and I invariably bang my head on the sloping ceiling. There's no owl or wand in mine either but it's an adventure just going in!
