First Sunday in Advent

The first of the month tends to pass without any impact but the first Sunday in Advent resonates right back to childhood. Sunday School, then primary school, Brownies and Guides all marked this day.

We used to light new candles and there was a special service in the village church, our school was a church school and the ties were strong.

The blanket is coming on, the purple band is complete and I am well into the cream band, the next colour will be mushroom.

The Strictly socks are growing, s l o w l y, the yarn is King Cole Zig Zag in the Tiger Lily colourway. I have used Zig Zag many times and it is not a bad yarn, a bit rustic but very hard wearing. These skeins are very "sticky" I am constantly pulling the strands apart and it is a tad annoying. By that I mean that I am tempted to throw them on the floor and jump up and down on them. It would be perfect for intricate colour work as the stitches would hold together well.

I will persevere though, the SO loves the colours and, of course, I bought 2 skeins.

Talking about the SO,he has been busy, I believe that a dawn raid was carried out in my stash.

Apparently they have been styled to look a bit sad because they are waiting for some snow! Smiley mouths are waiting in the wings!

Wasn't Strictly amazing last night, the lowest scores were 35. If Bruno isn't careful he will take off one night.

In fact it was so overwhelming for some that this was the result.

Herbie was still almost awake.

But he soon succumbed.

Then he snuggled up to Ben before nodding off again.

I think that we have reached photo overload so I will let you digest that lot.

Back tomorrow, as long as the wind doesn't blow me away, it is very strong this morning and a couple of gusts had me on my tip toes.

  1. The thought of warm toes in those beautifully coloured socks inside a pair of boots makes me smile.

Struggling to find anything to watch on TV except the Christmas films if we manage to catch them so we are falling back on old films from our shelves. Last night it was The Hobbit for the elenty millionth time...lol.

  4. The wind was blowing here in Essex but not like you experienced. But I got some washing dry which is a bonus in this wet miserable weather period we are going through!

    1. I can scarcely remember the last time that I pegged out and got it dry. I settle for a couple of hours to cut down on dryer time.
